DOUGLAS THE CRAB
Douglas the humble Crab and Kate the Lobster Princess
were madly, deeply and passionately in Love. For
months they enjoyed an idyllic relationship until one
day Kate scuttled over to Douglas in tears.
"We can't see each other any more..." she sobbed.
"Why?" gasped Douglas.
"Daddy says that crabs are too common," she wailed.
"He claims you are a mere crab, and a poor one at
that, and crabs are the lowest class of crustacean and
that no daughter of his will marry someone who can
only walk sideways."
Douglas was shattered, and scuttled sidewards away
into the darkness to drink himself into a filthy state
of aquatic oblivion.
That night, the great Lobster ball was taking place.
Lobsters came from far and wide, dancing and merry
making, but the lobster Princess refused to join in,
choosing instead to sit by her father's side,
inconsolable.
Suddenly the doors burst open, and Douglas the crab
strode in.
The Lobsters all stopped their dancing, the Princess
gasped and the King Lobster rose from his throne.
Slowly, painstakingly, Douglas the crab made his way
across the floor.......and all could see that he was
walking, not sideways............but
FORWARDS.........Yes FORWARDS, one claw after
another!!
Step by step he made his approach towards the throne,
until he looked the King lobster in the eye.
There was a deadly
hush..................................
Finally, the crab spoke.......
"F#ck, I'm pissed."
I'll give that one half marks because it did make me laugh
Hi Albi,
I saw your comment on Candy Minx's blog and I came over to say hi.
Your question here intrigued me.
I'll take a stab at it.
I am not myself everytime I am in the past or the future. I am not myself everytime I have a conditioned response or do sonething based on my programming rather than an actual conscious choice.
Apologies for the tardiness in getting back to you re: How am I not myself - comments have been filtering to spam intermitently and I just found it. Reasonable answer but not quite complete as it hinges on how you know you are yourself...
let me know if you feel like a task to finish your answer
Re Hafiz - if you're on the ground, you are part of the ground:-)

Oh dear,
Does mean I have to answer the question; What am I? first?
So, if I am part of all that is, then there is no part that is not myself.
You're not. You're always your self.
Cheers
Candy
kk,
been out at a conference for the past week firstly choclate Freddo for the Shaman-woman surely! we're all stardust but the question is 'how do you know?' rather than an external observation its 'internal' if that makes sense.
Minxy Always yourself? Well there is an idea that you are only free to be yourself when you are somebody else (gets back to healingrooms first answer)...whats cool is that both those answers are the very same - and you girls are very different...or not ;-)
Heh heh...well, I can see what you mean by your response, but I guess I may have a looser attachment to whether I am myself or not. It's not a question that interests me...but I like it that you were interested in the idea for your self. With my answer I was trying to demonstate who else could you be? Reminds me of my grandmother when I said I only wanted to wear natural fiber, not synthetic. she said "synthetic?Where do you think it was made? Mars?"
I am not able to see whether Healing Room and my answers were "the same " or" different".
I think we are all always ourselves. Who else would we be?
But, I have a feeling I do not understand your question...
I understand some people may believe we are made up of our society, our care givers, our families, our government...and we are not able to be free individuals...and maybe that is what your question is referring to...?
I have had quite a fun laugh at this, good idea for a question!
Candy
Candy and I have always been One. ;>)
